WHAT IS THIS LICENSE GOOD FOR?
“AZ” license holders are qualified to drive a motor vehicle and towed vehicles where the towed vehicles exceed a total gross weight of 4,600 kilograms (10,000 lb). This also includes straight trucks, dump trucks, garbage trucks and vans should they wish. Job placement assistance is provided with this course. Adding an optional “C” endorsement to this license permits the holder to drive coaches (buses) and large (up to 24) passenger vans.
WHAT IS MELT?
Effective July 1, 2017, the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has implemented mandatory entry-level training for commercial Class A truck drivers.
All new drivers attempting the Class A road test on or after July 1, 2017 will have to successfully complete the mandatory entry-level training course before attempting their Class A Road Test. CHET is one of the few qualified schools in Ontario delivering the Mandatory entry-level (MELT) training program. The biggest reason the province made this change was to ensure that all new commercial Class A truck drivers are trained to the same minimum standard before taking the Class A road test.
THE CHET DIFFERENCE.
Our students have the highest graduation rates. We are training drivers that we want to hire, not just getting paid to teach. Every student that comes into our course is a potential new employee for our parent company, Musket Transportation.
We hire over 85% of our graduates. It’s why our tag line is “We Train…We Employ!”
